Enugu State Recovers ₦1.28 Billion from Sujimoto

The Enugu State Government has recovered ₦1.28 billion from Sujimoto Luxury Construction Ltd., following EFCC investigations into the alleged diversion of funds for the Smart Green Schools project.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) handed over the funds—comprising bank drafts and cheques—at its Enugu Zonal Office on Wednesday. EFCC Zonal Director, Daniel Ise, said the recovery followed a petition from the state and pledged that investigations would continue to ensure all unaccounted funds are traced and recovered.

Receiving the funds, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, commended the EFCC’s professionalism and stressed that the recovered money would be reinvested in state infrastructure. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, warning that contractors who fail to deliver value for public funds would face legal consequences
