The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has promoted 147 officers, directing them to uphold strict discipline and ethical standards as they assume responsibilities across the country. The corps said the promotions are part of ongoing measures to strengthen supervision, improve response times and raise service delivery in priority operations.
The promoted personnel will be deployed to commands nationwide, with emphasis on Southern Nigeria where the NSCDC leads efforts to safeguard oil and gas pipelines, electricity infrastructure and other critical national assets. The agency said it would intensify anti-vandalism patrols on land and waterways, expand intelligence-led operations against crude oil theft and illegal refineries, and reinforce the Safe Schools programme in high-risk areas.
Management warned that misconduct, extortion and collusion with criminal networks will attract sanctions, and reminded officers that public trust depends on professionalism and accountability. The corps added that the new postings are expected to enhance coordination with the military, police and other partners during joint operations.
The NSCDC, established by law to protect critical infrastructure and support internal security, has reported arrests and seizures linked to pipeline sabotage and illicit petroleum trade in the South-South. It urged residents to report suspicious activity through dedicated hotlines nationwide.
