“I was a member of the Catholic church before I went into traditional practice. The venture to serve the deity was a calling from the ancestral mother. I attended St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Mbaukwu, Awka Diocese.”

“I was a successful trader in Lagos and later moved to Abuja where I traded on medicine ,before I returned to Awka to continue my business here.
It was Nne-Nwanyi Ogado,, the deity, that asked me to return from Awka and serve her. It asked me to come home and not stay far, but I asked her to let me stay in Abuja because it will be better for me, but she refused and kept on frustrating me.

THE FULL STORY

The Chief Priest of Ogado, a deity in Akabo Mbaukwu, a community in Awka South, Anambra State, Emeka Okeke A.K.A Ichoku Mbaukwu, Eze Alusi says the Church worshippers and the traditional religion practitioners can unite to promote peace and progress in Anambra State.

ICHOKU Mbaukwu who can be reached on 08060929727 for consultation and enquires, spoke to www.odogwublog.com in his shrine at Akabo Mbaukwu.

He noted that such unity will help defend the state against the spiritual attacks targeted at disrupting the development of the state, especially under the new administration in the state led by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

According to Eze Alusi Mba Iteghete, “it should be a joint effort. The Church and the tradition is one. Tradition is church and church is tradition. The church worshippers and the traditionalists can unite to help the state.

Narrating how he ventured into traditional practice, Ichoku Mbaukwu said: “I was a member of the Catholic church before I went into traditional practice.

It asked me to come home and not stay far, but when I asked her to let me stay in Abuja because it will be better for me, she refused and kept on frustrating me.

I was At Eke Awka market, before the deity started causing me all sorts of problems. At first, I rejected it but later when the problem became intense, I agreed to serve the deity.

“The problems it gave me were many. Sometimes if I keep money I will not know where I kept it; they were taking my money. Again, I was constantly having issues and quarrels with people such that anything I do results to fights and quarrels. My business was collapsing because of low sales. Most times I had accidents, I barely sustain injury from them; instead the motorcycle will be affected. When I asked questions, I was told to go and settle with the deity in my village. That was how I started the work.

“I was doing well at Abuja until the problem started. But everything went back to normal immediately I started serving the Nne-nwanyi Ogado.

” Right now, I have a shop in Eke Awka and another in Mbaukwu. Nne-nwanyi Ogado does things for me and as you can see, I’m married with children.”

On how he learned the work at such a young age, he said “Nobody taught me how to do the work but it was gift from god. I did not meddle my hands in fetish things or went somewhere else to get power, it was the goddess here that has stood by me all this long. I also got support from the deity of my maternal home, Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi and Omambala. They both united and stood by me.

“The work has taken me to places where I go to save people including Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, etc. Each state I entered, the people must know that I arrived because I solve their problems. I have gone to Ahoda in Portharcourt where I healed someone who was critically ill. Also in Onitsha where I healed a stroke patient who was almost lying dead and they later came to my shrine to thank the godess that I serve.

“I have gone to Oko, Nkpologwu, Abagana and performed wonders. Most times I work outside my community because my people don’t value what they have. This is in line with the biblical saying that a prophet is not honoured in his abode.

“I do many things as a native doctor including giving food to the deity and soothsaying. I do all kinds of traditional works except the ones that are bad. I help people that are struggling in life, the possessed, people pursued by dead people, I also deliver people whose destinies are pinned by wicked people. Confirming the facts as stated by Ichoku Mbaukwu, the Chairman Akabo Elders, Chief Ogbele Osy Ogbele, from Akabo Mbaukwu in Awka South LGA, Anambra State, said Ichoku Mbaukwu is a god chosen for the services as signs abound he was chosen.
He said Ichoku Mbaukwu has nothing to do with all forms of wrong practice as he has keenly observed , describing him as a wise Chief Priest though a small boy.

He buttressed the points on culture and tradition and the journey of Ichoku Mbaukwu thus: :Omenala was in the land before the coming of the church. So, no controversy on what one chooses to worship in line with freedom of worship as enshrined in our constitution. Evil is what everyone should abhor, for a better society , be the person a church worshipper or a traditional worshipper.

I will call Ichoku Mbaukwu a small boy but he has become a big man because of his status as aka ji ofor.

We migrated from Akabo Umuona in Aguata. We were together until war kept us apart. Akabo was in their hands, while we held Akabo n’Ovoro..

The first person that entered this land was Ezekiri. Ezekiri begat Aja and Aja begat Okpalaeze Ihuba.

He that the spirit helps, no man dares disturb, because if the spirit helps you, anything you do will be moving.

Ogado is the chief masquerade of Mbaukwu. Ogado isn’t stubborn but dreadful. There is nowhere you mention Ogado Akabo in Mbaukwu that people will not know about it. There is no spirit that is stronger than it in our neighbourhood. It is a fighter but doesn’t look for troubles.

We live around it and there is no time you pass the shrine that you will be afraid except you are an evil person.

He said Emeka becoming the chief priest was a thing of tradition and not what human being can explain. He did not take it by force and if Ogado says you will take it, so be it….

He confirmed that Ichoku Mbaukwu, Akajiofor Ogado Mbaukwu, Emeka Okeke has solution to some issues bedeviling the people because the spirits are still with him. Ichoku can be reached on 08060929727
