The First Lady had landed few days ago, by 3.18 pm at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke, Ebonyi State, and commissioned an upgrade 3.1 kilometers runway of the airport constructed by the Governor Francis Nwifuru administration.
First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, with the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima with 22 wives of Governors at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Ebonyi State is an attestation of the full readiness, supper status of the airport for commercial operations.
State Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, Dr. Ngozi Obichukwu said that the airport would soon commence full operations.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu,commended the Governor for the magnificent airport and also for being gender friendly in his appointments.
“I think your testimonials have gone ahead of you, and I am really glad to be in Ebonyi State.
I am really glad we came, and I see how beautiful Nigeria is. You know we don’t promote ourselves. What I saw today, I was even saying that we went to Burundi and I thought they did well. For a State in Nigeria, your runway is better than what I was even commending them for”.
“So, we want to thank God for the good work you have been doing. It gladdens my heart when we see people that are young, that they have their hands on their work and they are doing great jobs, they have to be commended”, she said.
Elated by the development, Ngozi Obichukwu noted that the Airport is to drive the economic blueprint of Ebonyi State government for generations to come.
She explained that the building of the International Airport in Ebonyi which is adjudged to be one of the best Airports in Nigeria, has positioned Ebonyi State as the hob of business in the Southeast and adjourning zones in the South region of Nigeria.”
The wife of the Governor thanked President Bola Tinubu for the assistance he gave the State. “We came in, on the 29th day of May 2023, and as of then, we used concrete to build this runway. We didn’t know, as a State, that concrete is not accepted to be used to build runway”.
“Based on the support and the help of your husband, President Bola Tinubu, by the special grace of God, we did the runway and completed it to be one of the best runways in this country, Nigeria”.
