Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has broken a new record by appointing Benson Ojeikere, an Edo State Born, as its first non-indigenous Head of Service (HOS).
Mr. Benson Ojeikere’s remarkable journey started when he joined the Abia State Civil Service. Benson Ojeikere was immediately employed by the state government for coming out as the best state youth corps member during the 1999/2000 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year.
Before he was appointed the HOS, Ojeikere was the Permanent Secretary in the Government House, Umuahia.
Prince Okey Kanu the state Information Commissioner said that Ojeikere was sworn into office. He disclosed that Ojeikere had risen through the ranks to be a director, and a Permanent Secretary and had justified the confidence reposed in him after he was retained/employed.
Governor Alex Otti believes in meritocracy, which rules no dividing line between an Abia citizen and a resident.
