Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, representing Imo East and a member of the Labour Party (LP), has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made on the Senate floor by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday. The defection was highlighted by the presence of Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodimma, in the chamber when the letter was read. Also Read: Two Commissioners Resign From Governor Alex Otti's Administration Citing Section 68(1)(g) of the Nigerian constitution, Senator Onyewuchi explained his decision. “This decision is due to the intractable division and crisis in the Labour Party that sponsored the earlier election into the Nigerian Senate,” the letter stated. He further emphasized the unity of Imo State and the South-East under the leadership of Governor Uzodimma. “Imo state and the entirety of the South-East remain united under the leadership of our performing governor, his excellency, Hope Uzodimma,” Onyewuchi added.
