Henry Okoye the spokesman of the Imo State Police Command said on Monday that the suspected IPOB/ESN camp is located in Nempi, Oru West Local Government Area of the state.

“This operation was initiated following the apprehension of a key suspect, Anukuru Nnanna Emmanuel, ‘m’, 25yrs, on September 15, 2024, in Mgbidi. His vital confessions enabled police operatives to locate and dismantle the camp.”

The Suspect included 25 males, and four females allegedly who were linked to the group.

“Four pump action guns, two locally made revolvers, five locally made pistols, three AK-47 magazines, a Point of Sale (PoS) machine, and 20 rounds of live cartridges, one white SUV and local bulletproof charms used by the criminal syndicate.”

Police further said, “These findings were persistent threat posed by these groups in the State, investigations are ongoing, and efforts are in “progress to apprehend the manufacturers of the locally made guns”.

“We are dedicated to ensuring public safety and will continue to take decisive action against criminal elements in our state,” the police said. N200,000 allegedly extorted from kidnapping victims was recovered during the operation.
